BSF foils bid to smuggle contraband, clothes & buffaloes to B’desh in Khasi Hills

Shillong: In their continued operations against attempts at smuggling of livestock and other items to Bangladesh through the international boundary that Meghalaya shares with the country, the BSF Meghalaya Frontier has seized cattle and other contraband worth more than Rs 16 lakh, reports Manosh Das.“Acting on intel, troops of 193 Bn seized a huge quantity of eatable and contraband items along the India-Bangladesh border of East Khasi Hills,” a BSF statement here said on Wednesday.In another operation on Tuesday, troops of 4th Bn rescued 12 buffaloes from the border area of BOP Hawaitila while they were being smuggled to Bangladesh, it said.
