Arsonist involved in torching two-wheelers, shops arrested

SHILLONG: An arsonist involved in gutting down of two-wheelers and shops in the city last month was arrested on Tuesday, the police said.

At around 2 am on December 28 last year, a fire incident occurred on the premises of a house (number 70) at JB Cantonment in Jhalupara in which four parked scooters were gutted in the flame.

Accordingly, an FIR was lodged by the complainants at Lumdiengjri police station.

“During the investigation, the person involved in the incident of arson causing damage to vehicles and nearby shops was identified and arrested. After a massive manhunt, he was taken into police custody,” a statement issued by East Khasi Hills district superintendent of police, Sylvester Nongtnger, said on Tuesday.
