Academic session of govt schools in Meghalaya to begin on Feb 15

Shillong: The academic session of government schools in Meghalaya is set to commence on February 15. The pre-primary session will get over on November 29; while for Classes I to XII it is December 20. Schools will break for winter from December 21, 2024 to February 9, 2025, as per the new guidelines of the state education department.The guidelines for the functioning of government schools in the state include the schedule for academic sessions, syllabi, timings and vacations for this year.In a notification issued on Wednesday, commissioner and secretary (education) Pravin Bakshi said all schools in Meghalaya should follow the set school calendar and instructions mentioned in the notification for the smooth conduct of the academic session.“Any violation would result in actions to be taken against the institution concerned as per the act and rules thereof,” he said.The notification also said the minimum working days or instructional hours will be as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.“All schools shall also have an assembly session at the beginning of the day which should be entirely conducted by the students,” the notification read.

Odisha schools, students awarded for academic performances

A total of 7,519 awards were distributed across 16 categories under the 'Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar,' accompanied by a cumulative prize money of Rs 138 crore. 2,027 students awarded for performances in class 10 board examination.

The budget session of the Arunachal Pradesh assembly will commence on February 8, with deputy chief minister Chowna Mein expected to present a vote on account the following day. Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik will address the members of the House. The session will witness the introduction of various bills.

Andhra Pradesh Assembly session to begin on Feb 5

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly budget session is scheduled to begin on Feb 5. The session will focus on the presentation of the vote on account budget, which is likely to be around Rs 75,000 crore. The budget will prioritize welfare programs and some industrial development.
