2 in police custody for Ichamati & Mawlai murders

Shillong: Two persons, arrested in connection with the Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh murder cases, were sent to police custody on Wednesday.
The two accused, identified as Cleenstar Shabong (27) of Nongthymmai in Pohktieh area, and Gary Rinaldy Mawlieh (25 ) of Mawlai, were arrested a day earlier for their alleged involvement in the Ichamati and Mawlai Mawroh murder cases respectively, police said. They were produced before a court on Wednesday.
The court remanded Shabong to seven days of police custody, while Mawlieh was remanded in 12 days’ police custody, superintendent of police (city) of East Khasi Hills, Pankaj Kumar Rasgania, said. Daily wagers Sujit Dutta and Insan Singh were stoned to death on March 27 in Ichamati and Dalda areas of East Khasi Hills district, respectively.
A daily wager Arjun Ray, who was attacked on April 10 at an under-construction house in Mawlai Mawroh locality in the city, died in a hospital.
