TN truck owners federation decides not to run vehicles in Karnataka on Tuesday

SALEM: The Lorry Owners Federation-Tamil Nadu has decided not to operate trucks in Karnataka on Tuesday in view of a bandh there.

Talking to reporters in Salem on Monday, president of the Lorry Owners Federation-Tamil Nadu (LOF-TN) C Dhanraj said a few farmers groups and pro-Kannada organisations had called for a one-day bandh on Tuesday in connection with the Cauvery water release issue.

"Some unidentified persons pelted six Tamil Nadu trucks with stones and damaged windshields in Karnataka on Monday," he said.

The protesters attacked Tamil Nadu vehicles especially trucks whenever the Cauvery water issue erupted.

The LOF-TN appealed to the drivers not to operate their vehicles in Karnataka. Many trucks return to Tamil Nadu from several parts of the via Karnataka. "We have advised drivers to stay safe with their vehicles if they have already entered Karnataka," Dhanraj added.
