Rs 86 lakh fine collected from railway passengers

SALEM: The Salem railway division has collected Rs 86.38 lakh as fines from passengers travelling without ticket/proper ticket and those carrying un-booked luggage in September. Divisional railway manager U Subba Rao has congratulated senior divisional commercial manager A Vijuvin and his team for carrying out ticket checking drive and penalizing the offenders.


He said Rs 15,25,565 was collected from 3,709 cases of passengers travelling without ticket, another Rs 68,49,887 from 16,518 cases of those travelling without proper ticket and Rs 2,63,067 from 601 cases of passengers carrying un-booked luggage.

During April-September period, the ticket checking team has collected a total of Rs 4,89,06, 608 from passengers travelling without ticket/proper ticket and those carrying un-booked luggage.
