Murder case accused hacked to death

Krishnagiri: A 24-year-old accused in a murder case was hacked to death in full public view by a four-member gang at Hosur here on Friday morning.Identifying the deceased as M Thilak, 24, of Soppatti near Hosur, police said he was lodged in Salem Central Prison in connection with a murder case and had come out on bail only a few days ago.According to a police officer, the incident occurred when Thilak was having tea from a bakery at Periyar Nagar on Hosur railway station road around 11.30am.“The four-member gang came there on two motorcycles and started assaulting Thilak with deadly weapons. While he started running for life, the gang chased him and attacked him with sickles in full public view, killing him on the spot. They then sped away,” the officer said.When alerted, the Hosur town police sent the dead body to the nearby government hospital for postmortem.Preliminary inquiry revealed that it was a case of revenge killing. “Thilak and his team had murdered Mohanbabu, 25, Hosur urban secretary of Shri Ram Sena, a right-wing organization, on January 1, 2022, over previous enmity. He was arrested in the case and lodged in jail. Supporters of Mohanbabu, who was a resident of Soppatti, murdered Thilak to take revenge,” the officer said.
