Man trampled to death by wild elephant in Krishnagiri

Krishnagiri: A 51-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant near Jawalagiri in Krishnagiri district on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as M Thangavel, of Milithikki village was killed when he was returning home after grazing his goats. He had taken the goats to the Ulipanda reserve forest for grazing. Locals found his body, with injuries when they went searching for him after he did not return home even after 6pm.
Forest officials and the Anchetty police were informed of the incident after which they went into the forest and retrieved the body.“A wild elephant trampled him to death,” said an official from the Jawalagiri forest range office.
Officials sent his body to the Denkanikottai government hospital for a postmortem. Jawalagiri forest range officials have registered a case and initiated an inquiry.tnn
