KRP dam water inflow increases
KRISHNAGIRI: The inflow of water into the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project (KRP) dam has risen due to heavy rain in the catchment areas of the Thenpennai river in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the past few days.
"On Saturday, the dam recorded an inflow of 309 cubic feet per second (cusecs). However, this figure rose to 313 cusecs on Sunday," said a water resources department official.
He mentioned that they were discharging the entire surplus of water -- 301 cusecs into the Thenpennai river and 12 cusecs into irrigation canals.
According to the official, the water level at the dam was measured at 50.95 feet on Monday, compared to its total capacity of 52 feet.
On Sunday night, WRD officials released 14 cusecs of water from the Big Lake in Barur, as the lake had reached its full capacity of 15.60 feet.
