Salem: Karnataka AIADMK secretary V Pugazhendhi on Thursday said Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D Jayakumar would work to defeat the party’s RK Nagar candidate Madhusudhanan in the bypoll.
He was in the city to receive the bail order from a local court in a sedition case.
The Annadhanapatty police had this October booked T T V Dhinakaran, Pugazhendhi and 15 others for sedition in connection with distributing pamphlets against the central and the state governments.
Subsequently, Pugazhendhi moved the Salem district court for bail. The court granted him bail on October 16, but he did not receive the order.
On Thursday, he produced sureties before the court, which asked him to sign at Hosur sub-court daily.
Speaking to reporters, Pugazhendhi said all the 18 disqualified MLAs would attend assembly session after getting nod from the Madras High Court and cast their votes against Edappadi K Palaniswami during the floor test.
“Palaniswami will be sent back to his house soon,” the leader said as he came down heavily on both EPS and OPS, saying they have mortgaged the state to saffron people in the north.
“Our campaign will focus on this issue. EPS and OPS are supporting BJP to capture power. It won’t succeed.
Dhinakaran will win by a margin of 50,000 votes in the RK Nagar byelection,” Pugazhendhi said and added that DMK would come second,” he said.
Referring to the case filed by T T V to get two leaves symbol, Pugazhendhi said the final verdict would favour Dhinakaran.
Pugazhendhi also slammed the Election Commission of India, saying it was just a toy in the hands of the central government.
