KRISHNAGIRI

: The 27th all-India

exhibition was inaugurated by the district administration at Government Boys Higher Secondary School here on Sunday evening.

District revenue officer S Shanthi said the purpose of organizing the exhibition was to popularize varieties of mangoes and other crops among farmers and public.

About 50 varieties of mangoes including alphonso, senthura, neelam, malcova, imam pasant were displayed at more than 100 stalls in the exhibition.

Officials said the exhibition will be held for 29 days. “Competitions such as mango eating and quiz will be conducted for visitors as well as separate games for children,” they said.

Mango farmers and pulp producers from several states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra displayed their produces in the exhibition. Government departments including PWD, forest, hindu religious and charitable endowment departments set up stalls along with private companies who opened about 80 stalls.

The administration also displayed floral patterns. Shanthi said they have used 14 fragrant materials such as ‘punugu’ athar and rose essence to make a miniature Parliament with roses weighing 600kg.

Burgur MLA C V Rajendran, who inaugurated the exhibition, issued welfare scheme materials worth Rs 31.75 lakh to 86 beneficiaries
