After J Jayalalithaa, AIADMK has no national leader, PM Modi our only option: Edappadi K Palaniswami

: Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday said that after the demise of J Jayalalithaa the AIADMK had no leader it could project nationally and so had to back Narendra Modi so that “people will have some faith in us”.


In an interview to TOI, Palaniswami said, “This is not an assembly election. This is a Parliament election. The circumstance is such that we have to project him (Modi) for our campaign. Only then people will have some faith in us.

“After our leader’s death, we have no leader in our party who can be projected nationally. So, we put together a mega alliance and through the alliance we projected a leader.

“When he wins, Tamil Nadu will reap the benefits like getting good projects and better financial assistance and support. Tamil Nadu will see growth. The state has to see development and for that we need projects and schemes. It was on that basis that all the alliance parties got together and offered support. It was in the interest of the state’s welfare.”
