Youth brands grandparents witch, kills them

Gumla: An elderly tribal couple was beaten to death by their cousin’s grandson identified as Indranath Oraon (19) at Harup Kochabandh village under Bishunpur police station of Gumla on Wednesday evening after charging them with practising witchcraft. Police said the crime was a fallout of a land dispute. Indranath is arrested.The deceased were identified as Turi Oraon (76) and his wife Naihari Devi (72).“Last night, (Tuesday) both appeared in my dream and they were killing me. So I killed them,” the police quoted the accused as saying.However, the police said the incident occurred due to a land dispute between the two families. Both families have an ongoing row over a field for a long time.Gumla SDPO Manish Chandra Lal said, “The accused admitted that there was a row over a plot of land at Harup Kochabandh between the families of the accused and the deceased,”
