‘Work on to form coal mine closure plan’

Ranchi: The coal ministry is working on a plan to develop comprehensive mine closure framework, Union secretary coal, Anil Jain, said at the online launch of a report on Thursday evening, prepared by Iforest on the just transition of unprofitable and end of life coal mines in the country of which Jharkhand has a lion’s share. He also admitted that the existing closure plan is technical in nature and fails to address issues like rehabilitation of the labours or social impact that the closure might have. tnn
