Woman found dead in JSR hotel, 5 detained

Jamshedpur: Five persons, including a woman, were detained after the body of a young woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan in room number 506 of Hotel El-Dorado at Aam Bagan in Sakchi by police on Monday.The deceased was in her 20s, police said. Deputy superintendent of police (City) Sunil Kumar Chaudhary said, "The detained persons are Deepa Deep, a woman friend of the deceased, male friends Rituraj Kumar Singh and Pankaj Kumar, hotel owner Deependra Banerjee, and hotel manager Abdul Shafiq. The two male friends are residents of Rajendranagar, while the accused woman is from Old Purulia Road in Mango.""Accused Deepa told police that she was called to the hotel on Sunday evening by the deceased woman, whom she had met on a social media platform a few months ago. The two male friends had booked the rooms on Sunday and checked in during the evening," he added.Police said liquor bottles and objectionable items were seized from hotel room numbers 506 and 504, where the two men were staying. The guest registration books of the hotel and the footages captured by the CCTV cameras installed on the premises have been confiscated. Interrogation of all the five detained persons is under way, police said. The post-mortem report of the deceased woman is awaited. All four individuals, including the deceased, were drunk. The possibility of a swing party meeting a fatal end cannot be ruled out. Probe is on to determine if such parties were regularly organised in the hotel, police added.
