While these four were arrested from Toto in Gumla, Priti was picked up from DSP Road in Gumla town.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, Gumla superintendent of police Upendra Kumar said both Priti and her brother-in-law Deepak had hatched the plot to kill Naresh. So, they hired Harishchandra Singh and Amrit Oraon through one Manoj Singh alias Guddu Singh and Ganesh Thakur of Ranchi in lieu of Rs 90,000, he added.
Deepak deposited Rs 40,000 in the account of Manoj Singh at ICICI Bank in July and the remaining Rs 50,000 was to be paid separately to Thakur before August 15, after they completed their assignment of killing Naresh, the SP said.
Naresh was stabbed to death by Singh and Oraon on the afternoon of September 11 on the busy DSP Road immediately after Priti handed over Rs 500 to the killers as immediate expenses.
After marrying Priti, Naresh who hailed from Jharia, had settled in Gumla, where his in-laws stayed. He had a business of packing cashew nuts and supplying those to shops in the town.
Priti, now pregnant, was having an affair with Deepak and Naresh, who had an inkling of what was going on, stood in their way. So, the duo decided to eliminate him, said police.
