Tragic Accident in Palamu: Man Dies and Parents Injured from Falling Mango Tree Branch

Daltonganj: A resident of Kukhee village in Palamu died and his parents sustained injuries when a dry branch of a mango tree fell on their motorcycle on Thursday, police said.

Officer in-charge of the Haidernagar police station, Afzal Ansari, said, “The deceased, identified as Surender Mehta (35), was taking his parents, Suresh Kumar Mehta and Kamla Devi, to the Haidernagar railway station when the incident happened.”

The medical officer in-charge of the Hussainabad sub-divisional hospital, Dr S K Ravi, said, “The motorist was brought dead to hospital around 8:15am. The father of the decaesed suffered head injuries. He was referred to the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj. The mother sustained injuries in her back and right leg. She is under treatment.”

Both Hussainabad and Chhaterpur sub-divisional hospitals in Palamu lack CT scan facility.
