BOKARO:
Vikas Singh, a small trader, sustained bullet injuries after the son of a havildar along with his associates opened fire when the victim was opening his shop at a Shopping Center of Cooperative Colony under City police station on Thursday.
SP Kuldeep Dwivedi said the accused, who have been identified as Chottu Rajak and Vinay Jha, had some personal enmity with the victim, while his father Virender Singh alleged it was a matter of extortion.
Rajak is a resident of Police Line, Sector-XII.
According to Singh, the incident occurred around 9 am when the victim was opening the shutter of his cyber cafe. Rajak suddenly arrived there with four persons on two motorbikes.
Of them, Rajak and Jha came to his shop and opened fire on Vikas and fled.
Later, Vikas was rushed to the Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). The doctors said the bullet had pierced his lower abdomen.
They are waiting for the patient to get stable to operate and take out the bullet from his body.
Singh said Rajak with his associates had thrashed Ram Krishna Modi, a friend of the victim, who runs a sweet shop for extortion on Wednesday. Vikas had accompanied Modi to the City police station to lodge a complaint in this connection. This infuriated Rajak. On Wednesday evening also Rajak had come looking for Vikas at the shop brandishing a pistol, but the latter was not there. The duo is absconding after the incident. An FIR has been lodged in this connection.
