RANCHI: With 494 marks in their kitty, three students jointly became the state toppers in the All India Secondary School Examination, the results of which were declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday. While state toppers Shubham Thakur and Shashank Kumar from DAV Gandhi Nagar and Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali are from Ranchi, Piyush Kumar Agarwal is from Angels High School, Hazaribag.

Region of CBSE where girls outshone boys in the passing percentage. Altogether 93.14% of the girls were declared passed as compared to 91.18% of the boys who managed to clear the examination.

Talking to TOI, state topper Shubham Thakur said, "I prepared by solving sample tests every day. Timing was crucial for me and I made sure to perfect the time management with the highest accuracy possible."

Thakur added, "I want to pursue engineering from a top IIT. I will be opting for the science stream in Plus Two."

Shashank Kumar of JVM Shyamali school credited his success to his elder sister and said, "My goal is to pursue engineering. My sister helped me a lot with the preparations and shared her notes."

In the list, CBSE named 13 toppers from Jharkhand. Of them, while three students shared the top position with 494 marks, two are in the second place with 493 marks and eight more were in the third spot with 492 marks.
