Three men arrested for raping women; Police confirm medical tests validate assault

Gumla: Three men were arrested on Sunday night for allegedly raping two women in Gumla district late on Saturday night, police said on Monday.Police said the survivors and two of the accused are friends. All five of them are in the age group of 22-25 years. The two accused and the women had gone on a outing on two bikes on Saturday evening. The accused later bought beer. The two accused then asked the girls to drink beer, but they denied, as per the complaint filed by a survivor. Later on, the two men drank beer and allegedly raped the girls. In the meantime, the two men called a friend, who also allegedly raped one of the women, police said.A police officer said, “The accused were sent to judicial custody on Monday after a case was registered against them under sections 70(1), 115(2) and 351(2) of the BNS. Medical tests have confirmed rape. Further probe is on.”
