Dhanbad: Three aides of gangster Prince Khan were arrested after a brief gunfight in Bhaga Bandh Outpost area under Kenduadih police station limits on Monday morning. Three other members of the gang managed to flee the scene.
The arrested men, identified as Aman Singh alias Kuber (22) of Palamu, Vicky Dom (40) of Dhanbad, and Afzal Aman (30) of Dhanbad, were arrested two of them sustained bullet injuries and another got injured during the shoot out.
A police team raided Kenduadih Basti around 4 am after receiving intelligence about the presence of armed criminals in the area. As the police approached the hideout, the criminals reportedly opened fire in a bid to escape. Police retaliated in self-defence, leading to a brief exchange of fire.
SSP Prabhat Kumar said the operation was carried out based on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs by police teams from Ranchi and Dhanbad. “The injured criminals are suspected to be linked to the recent firing incident in Ranchi. The Ranchi Police developed leads during their investigation, which helped track them,” he said.
Kumar said 60 bank accounts allegedly used for financial transactions linked to the gang. The three accused were admitted to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Notably, this is the second major action against the gang within a week. On March 8, in an encounter in the Saraidhela police station area criminal Sudish Ojha (36) was injured, while his associate Dilip Singh (40) was arrested.
