Jamshedpur: To create a platform for Persons with Disability (PwDs) through participative atmosphere and inclusive infrastructure that enables skilling, employability, and financial independence,
Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) launched a special centre in the city, named Sabal.
“Started with support from Jamshedpur Continuous Annealing and Processing Company Pvt.
Ltd., the centre would initiate dialogue with stakesholders through extensive sensitisation practices. Sabal’s focus area would be to systematically promote inclusion of the PwDs as a precondition for their sustainable and equitable development,” TSF said.
“Sabal, in keeping with our mission to stand by excluded group, recognises that three out of four persons with disability are in the rural areas of India with the accompanying access and sociological challenges, whereas the solutioning in the space is predominantly urban. Bridging this gap within the larger ambit of disability is the reason of the existence of Sabal. We look forward to Jamshedpur emerging as the sought-after PwD friendly space in India,” said
Sourav Roy, the chief of Tata Steel’s CSR wing.
