Summit to hone leadership skill among pupils
JAMSHEDPUR: It is said global exposure in the formative years helps build leadership skills in students. Apparently, toeing this line, the J H Tarapore School-Dhatkidih, has for long been an active participant in the initiatives of the British Council's leadership promotion initiatives.
Three promising students of the school, including two girls, earned place in the British Council Global Citizens' Summit, held in Bhubaneswar from January 26.
The three students, Pallavi Singh and Priyanka Pandey (both Standard XI) and Shaunak Bhatia (Standard IX), represented the school at the three-day event.
"Given that the three-day event was aimed at promoting leadership skills in the students I felt honoured that my children (read students) received a call for participation," said Lata Sarath, principal of J H Tarapore School.
The event largely involved field workshops and hands-on activities on wide ranging subjects, ranging from localized tribal art to global world heritage. "The students are expected to carry out such exercises on the campus to inculcate leadership skills," said the principal.
The summit saw nearly 300 students under 18 representing 100 different schools from across India participating.
