Social outfit resolves tribal community issues in Gumla

Gumla: A social outfit of educated youths, Mission Badlav, has rolled out an initiative, titled ‘Nebba’ (solution in Kuruk language) to sort out the problems concerning the tribal communities residing in villages through community leadership. Under the initiative, villagers will be guided by the members of Mission Badlav to list the issues of their village and seek solutions. ‘Then problems are prioritised and put before the administration, seeking their solutions.The idea to prepare the villagers to work for the uplift of the community was mooted by a tribal youth, Jitesh Minj, an engineer-turned-social activist and one of the founders of Mission Badlav. “We visit a village and call a meeting of the residents. We divide the villagers in to three groups — the first lists the problems being faced by them, the second mulls solutions based on their understanding, and the third charts out the implementation strategies,” he told TOI.“Thereafter, a representation is prepared after prioritising the main problems and placed before the administration,” he added.“We recently held a meeting at Tukutoli village. The administration took cognizance of the representation by sending a senior authority to the village,” Bhushan Bhagat, another founder, said.Tukutoli resident Punam Kumari said, “Problems concerning drinking water, anganwadi centre and other social issues in our locality have been tackled under this initiative.”So far, Nebba has been organised at Malai, Chairamba and Chegri villages besides Tukutoli, Jitesh said.
