Showroom guard sentenced to life for rape and murder

BOKARO: Additional District and Session Judge-4 of Bokaro Court, Yogesh Kumar Singh, on Friday awarded life imprisonment to a showroom security guard, Shiv Pujan Singh (30), for the rape and murder of a 50-year-old mentally disabled woman.

On October 4, 2022, Singh lured the woman into the showroom and assaulted her.

Later, Singh took the woman to a nearby pond and pushed her into the water. Her body was recovered three days later.

Examination of CCTV footage from the area led the police to identify and arrest Singh.

Special public prosecutor Rakesh Kumar Rai said that in addition to the life term, a penalty of Rs 20,000 was imposed on Singh.

The court's judgment includes life imprisonment for murder, a 20-year RI for the rape and a 3-year RI for attempting to hide the evidence, said Rai.
