Ranchi: Main Road continued to remain deserted for the second consecutive day after all trading and commercial establishments on the 2.5km stretch from Albert Ekka Chowk till Sujata Chowk were forced to down shutters owing to imposition of Section 144 in the wake of Friday’s violence
But two days of back-to-back closure of shops in this commercial hub has caused massive losses to the traders.

Pratima Chowdhury (70), who runs a grocery and dairy shop at Daily Market, rued that such incidents only have adverse impacts. “For us, it’s a huge loss in terms of earnings,” she said, adding that she had kept her shop closed for safety.
“I somehow managed to open today but there aren’t any customers,” she said.
District PRO Prabhat Kumar said shops for essential items can be opened from 1pm to 5pm from Monday till further orders.
