Shop owner shot at, dies in hospital

A 60-year-old shop owner was shot at on his residence-cum-shop premises at Noora locality in Hazaribag town early on Thursday morning.He, later, succumbed to his injuries.

HAZARIBAGH: A 60-year-old shop owner was shot at on his residence-cum-shop premises at Noora locality in Hazaribag town early on Thursday morning. He, later, succumbed to his injuries.
"The dead, Naresh Prasad, used to sell utensils in the locality after he came here from Patna 25 years ago. His wife, Girija Devi, worked at a government school here and he ran a shop," said Ashok Kumar Singh, DSP (headquarters).

Police said when Prasad was pulling up the shutters of his shop at 5.30am, two unidentified persons on a bike shot at his back. The bullet pierced through his abdomen, hit the wall and fell on the ground. Prasad, too, fell down on the ground and was unconscious.
Locals said they immediately informed the police and Prasad was taken to a hospital where he died. SP Manoj Kaushik, DSP A K Singh and OC D K Azad went to the spot with a dog squad and a forensic team.
Prasad's family members said he did not have enmity with anyone in Hazaribag or in Patna. But police are investigating all probable angles - personal enmity, property dispute and illicit relation.
No arrests were made but police are conducting raids to nab the criminals. A case has been registered in the Hazaribag sadar police station under section 302 and arms act.
Police have found the used cartridge that killed Prasad from the spot.
Later, his body was handed over to the relatives after postmortem.
