Shibu Soren Birth Anniversary Celebrated in Bokaro with Service and Tributes
Bokaro: The birth anniversary of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren was observed across Bokaro Steel City with reverence, simplicity and service-oriented programmes. A modest ceremony was organised at the late Shibu Soren’s residence in Sector -1C, where state minister for excise and prohibition Yogendra Prasad paid floral tributes to the veteran JMM leader’s portrait.
DC Ajay Nath Jha and SP Harvinder Singh also offered floral tributes, remembering Shibu Soren’s immense contribution to social justice, tribal rights and public welfare. Participants pledged to follow his ideals, and the programme concluded in a dignified manner. On the occasion, blankets were distributed among the needy.
Meanwhile, Jai Jharkhand Majdur Samaj, a trade union affiliated with JMM, along with Sakha Sahyog Suraksha Samiti, celebrated Shibu Soren’s 82nd birth anniversary at Two Tank Garden, near Ispat Bhavan. A cake-cutting ceremony was held, and blankets were distributed to 180 poor people to protect them from the winter. Floral tributes were offered to his oil portrait, and prayers were held in his memory. Addressing the gathering, the founder general secretary of the trade union, B K Chaudhary, described Shibu Soren as the voice of the oppressed and the architect of the Jharkhand movement, whose legacy continues under chief minister Hemant Soren.
The JMM district unit also celebrated the occasion at a farmhouse in Chira Chas. Party leader Mantu Yadav said Shibu Soren was not just a person but a living ideology deeply rooted in Jharkhand. He said the separate state was achieved through “Guruji’s” long struggle and that his vision of a prosperous Jharkhand is being carried forward. Community feasts and blanket distribution marked the service-driven celebrations.
