DUMKA: BJP MP
Shahnawaz Hussain had a narrow escape on Tuesday when the helicopter carrying him was forced to make an emergency landing soon after take-off.
Reports said Shahnawaz had arrived at Udhwa by a copter to address a public meeting in favour of some party candidates contesting the upcoming Assembly polls.
The helicopter, however, developed a snag owing to bad weather and low visibility within 15 minutes of its take-off from Udhwa after the meeting ended there around 1.30 pm.
Confirming the reports, Sahebganj civil subdivisional officer, Nisar Ahmad, said Hussain later left for Bhagalpur by road with police escort. Denying any knowledge of the copter having developed a snag, he quoted the Udhwa block development officer as saying that ythe chopper was forced to make an emergency landing owing to the adverse weather conditions and low visibility.
Recently, a chartered plane, carrying BJP president Rajnath Singh, had taken off from the Dumka aerodrome after the runway was lit up by lights of SUVs. The incident had put a question mark on the functioning of the air traffic control that directed the pilots to take off under the given circumstances, which could have been fatal for the VIP passenger on board.
