Secure your spot early: Schools begin provisional admissions for Class XI; Eager parents and students seek early confirmation ahead of board results
Ranchi: Schools across the city have started selling application forms for provisional admission to Class XI, marking the beginning of the new academic session’s enrolment process.
The initiative comes as institutions prepare to streamline admissions ahead of the final board examination results.
According to school authorities, the provisional admission system allows students to secure seats based on their pre-board or internal assessment performance and admission test, preventing delays in the commencement of the new academic year. Final confirmation of admission, however, will only be granted once the official Class X results are released. Several prominent schools, including Cambrian Public School, Oxford Public School, Sharda Global School, and Sarala Birla School, have already begun selling forms for provisional admission to Class XI.
While some institutions plan to start the process in January, schools such as DAV Public School Hehal and Jawahar Vidya Mandir Shyamali will issue application forms in January and conduct admission tests for students coming from other institutions. Other schools such as Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir and DAV Alok prefer to wait until the Class X results are announced before issuing forms. The form sales witnessed a steady turnout of students and parents, many eager to secure seats early due to the competition for preferred streams such as science, commerce, and humanities. The schools have released guidelines regarding eligibility criteria, subject combinations, and the documents required for provisional enrolment. To facilitate smoother access, several institutions have enabled both offline and online submission modes.
School principals highlighted that early admissions help streamline internal planning, including class strength distribution, faculty allocation, timetable scheduling, and resource management for the upcoming academic year.
The Principal of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Lalan Kumar, said, "Schools also emphasised that students are required to update their records and submit Class X board marksheet once results are declared to maintain their allotted seats."
Mohan Gorai, a parent and resident of Kokar, said, "Provisional admission ensures that our child’s seat in the school is confirmed, removing the uncertainty of waiting for board exam results. It gives us peace of mind knowing that a spot is already secured in the school of our choice. Some schools also conduct admission tests, which reassure us that our child is well-prepared.”
