RANCHI: After the Ranchi-Howrah Intercity Express, the people of Jharkhand have one more reason to be happy. A new train, the Sealdah-Ajmer Sharif (2987/2988) Express has been introduced for residents of Koderma and Dhanbad. Besides, the South Eastern Railway has added the Jhalda railway station as a stop for the newly-launched Ranchi Howrah Express that runs via Bokaro and Asansol three days a week.

According to the railway sources, the Sealdah-Ajmer Sharif Express will run six days a week at present with halts at both the stations all days at 3.30 am (Dhanbad) and 5.04 am (Koderma) of the week except Saturday. Similarly, the train going to Sealdah will stop at these stations all days of the week at 8.48 am (Koderma) and 11.20 am (Dhanbad), except Friday. Regular service of the trains will commence from Ajmer Sharif from September 13 and from Sealdah from September 14. There will be one AC 2 tier coach, two AC 3 tier coaches, seven sleeper class coaches and four general second class coaches with pantry facilities. The Ranchi-Howrah Express will stop at Jhalda from September 13. Jhalda is located between Muri and Bokaro Steel City stations. The stoppage of the train in Jhalda has been added on an experimental basis for six months, said sources.
