Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana: Over 6 Lakh Applications, Rs 104 Crore Disbursed for Girls' Education in Jharkhand
Ranchi:The department of women, child development and social security has reported a total of 6,07,467 online applications registered so far under the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana during the current financial year. Of these, an amount exceeding Rs 104.65 crore has already been disbursed to 2,78,463 eligible beneficiaries, while payments to the remaining applicants are currently underway.
Director of social welfare, Kiran Kumar Pasi on Sunday said, "The scheme reflects educating and empowering adolescent girls and women, with the objective of building a healthy and strong society where women live with dignity and girls are able to achieve their full potential through education."
Launched in the 2022–23 financial year, the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana provides financial incentives of up to Rs 40,000 in phased installments to eligible school-going adolescent girls to ensure continuity in education and reduce financial barriers.
According to officials, applications have been received from 13,469 schools out of 15,007 registered on the e-Vidyavahini platform across the state. However, concern has been expressed over 1,508 schools where zero applications have been submitted so far. All e-Vidyavahini-registered schools are eligible to apply for financial support for girls from Classes VIII to XII, and non-participation by schools could adversely impact girls’ education, potentially increasing dropout risks and associated social challenges.
Pasi said, "To address this gap, instructions have been issued to regional education staff to ensure applications from the remaining schools." The social welfare directorate has provided training to officials, headmasters, BEEOs and block child development project officers on the online application process through the SBPKSY portal (savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in), along with periodic technical support.
For assistance related to the scheme, beneficiaries may contact the district education officer, district social welfare officer, school headmasters, BEEOs or Block Child Development Project Officers. The department has urged all eligible girls from Classes VIII to XII to apply promptly and avail benefits under this ambitious initiative.
