Saifi Abbas Alias Major, Prince Khan Aide, Remanded in Dhanbad for Extortion and Firing Cases

Dhanbad: The district police secured a three-day remand of Saifi Abbas alias Major, a close associate of Wasseypur-based gangster Prince Khan, on Tuesday.

Abbas was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate court on Tuesday, which granted the police a three-day remand. Following this, multiple teams from different police stations have begun a coordinated interrogation at Dhanbad police station. Senior officials indicated that crucial leads have already emerged, with expectations of more revelations in the coming days. Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar confirmed that multiple teams are questioning Abbas but refused to share details. “We expect more names to surface during the remand period,” he said.

The accused was earlier arrested on April 19 from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, shortly after arriving from Dubai. Police sources claimed he was arrested with inputs from the Interpol. Prior to his transfer to Dhanbad, Kolkata Police also questioned him in connection with ongoing investigations.

Abbas is wanted in cases such as extorting from businessmen, contractors and professionals, issuing threats through audio and video messages, and being involved in several firing incidents. Police records reveal that around 15 cases — including murder, attempted murder, Arms Act violations and extortion — are registered against him in Dhanbad alone, while his name has surfaced in over 25 cases.

Sources suggest that Prince Khan, operating from abroad, allegedly managed an extensive extortion network through his aides. Money collected locally was reportedly routed via hawala channels and cryptocurrency transactions. Police believe Khan is currently taking shelter in Pakistan.
