RANCHI/HAZARIBAG: Police on Sunday recovered explosives, including five powerful timer bombs, firearms and ammunition from a house at Barhi in Hazaribag, a day after Ajsu Party leader Tileshwar Sahu was shot dead here.
The house was taken on rent by Suraj alias Nitish Kumar, who was arrested on Saturday in connection with Sahu's murder, and his three friends who posed as students.
The investigating team of Hazaribag police, which raided the house early on Sunday following a night-long interrogation of Suraj, are still looking for his roommates.
The team found timer bombs with remote control, four gelatin sticks, five locally made revolvers, six cartridges and huge quantity of high intensity explosives from the house at Azad Mohalla in Barhi, 150km from Ranchi city.
Barhi SDPO Avinash Kumar said a group of bomb disposal experts from Hazaribag's Police Training College successfully diffused the bombs. "It is likely that the criminals had a big plan and that is why they gathered explosives. It will be clear only after probe," said a police officer.
However, Hazaribag police said on Sunday evening they have solved the case. "PLFI is behind the incident. The arrested person has confessed that PLFI supremo Dinesh Gope had offered him Rs 6 lakh to murder Sahu. He said several people are behind the incident," Hazaribag SP Manoj Kaushik quoted Suraj as saying during questioning. A splinter group of the CPI(Maoist), PLFI has already claimed responsibility for the murder.
Some of the killers are from Bihar.
Jharkhand police spokesperson Anurag Gupta said police have constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the murder.
Meanwhile, CM Hemant Soren agreed to Ajsu Party's demand for CBI probe into Sahu's murder.
