School body to focus on enrolment, attendance

Ranchi: The School Management Committee (SMC) Scheme for 2025-26 will be implemented in four phases under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
The SMC scheme focuses on monitoring teacher and student attendance, ensuring enrolment of children aged 6-14, promoting inclusion of disabled students, and facilitating teacher-parent communication. It also aims to enhance community participation and manage school funding and resources.
The SMC will prepare the School Development Plan (SDP) for the upcoming academic year, which will be integrated into the Gram Panchayat Development Plan.
The implementation timeline begins with primary and middle schools from November 1-14, followed by cluster-level activities from November 15-20. Block-level implementation is scheduled for November 21-25, concluding with district-level activities from November 26-30. This phased approach ensures systematic monitoring of the scheme's progress. The district has allocated Rs 20 per school for form publication. The total budget of Rs 42,000 will cover 1,932 primary and 168 middle schools in Ranchi district. District superintendent of education, Badal Raj, said, "School management committee meetings will be held bi-monthly to ensure transparency and community involvement. All meeting details and decisions will be documented and made public."
