Ranchi Police Busts Child Trafficking Ring, Rescues 12 Minors
Ranchi: A day after Ranchi police busted the child trafficking racket, leaders cutting across various political parties, for a change, were united to hail city police. Notably, police had come under great criticism after the two minor siblings from Dhurwa went missing over a fortnight back.
They were, however, traced and recovered last week following an intense search for 12 days, and reunited with their family.
A couple was also arrested and based on their interrogation, police on Sunday busted a gang by arresting 13 traffickers and recovering 12 minors hailing from different districts.
Taking to X, former CM and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das wrote: “The Ranchi Police has done commendable and noble work by catching the child trafficking gang. The Ranchi Police has busted the child trafficking gang and saved many children from a dark future. Congratulations to all the police personnel involved in this operation. Keep doing such work in the coming times. @ranchipolice.”
However, the BJP camp went on to claim that the police was forced to act due to their continuous stirs. In a statement, BJP state president Aditya Sahu, praising police, said that recoveries are the result of BJP's intense pressure. “Hundreds of children are still missing and we are sure police will trace them too,” he said, adding that the children who have gone missing are from poor, impoverished families. “Jharkhand police needs to be more sensitive to curb such crimes against children,” Sahu said.
A delegation of Congress, part of the ruling alliance, on the other hand, met with Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra to extend their gratitude for the success.
“It is a result of police’s hardwork and sensitivity that they could bust the gang. And under alliance govt, police will continue to expose more such people in coming days,” said Alok Dubey, party general secretary.
RJD, also party of the ruling alliance, demanded special reward for the team of Ranchi police who worked on the case of recovering missing siblings from Dhurwa.
“This led to further recoveries and arrest,” said RJD spokesperson Kailash Yadav.
