Ranchi New Year Celebrations: City Buzzes with Festive Spirit, Crowds Flock to Parks & Eateries
Ranchi: The state capital is stepping into the New Year with palpable excitement as the festive energy has already gripped the city, drawing crowds to markets, parks, eateries and entertainment zones.
From family outings to late-night parties, Ranchi is witnessing a surge in fun activities with residents eager to end the year on a cheerful note.
Fun parks and nearby recreation zones have become preferred choices for families and young visitors looking for day-long celebrations within the city. With travel plans curtailed for many, such spaces are witnessing steady crowds through the day, especially during afternoon and evening hours, as people opt for informal outings, rides and open-air activities as part of their New Year plans.
“Many visitors are coming in groups or with children, spending a few hours at the tourist spots before moving on to restaurants or community events in the evening,” said Aditya Mishra, a local event organiser.
Restaurants, cafes and food joints are also cashing in on the festive mood, rolling out New Year-themed menus, live music nights and attractive discounts. Many eateries are offering combo deals, midnight countdown offers and special desserts, while street food hubs remain crowded till late evening.
“Customers are asking for not just food but experiences. Live bands, decor and discounted packages are helping us attract larger groups,” said Dhiren Pal, a restaurant manager in Lalpur.
Hotels and banquet halls too reported strong bookings for New Year parties, corporate gatherings and private celebrations. Event organisers said that the demand has picked up steadily over the past week, with decor items, sound systems and party kits selling briskly. “This year, there’s a visible shift towards creative themes, retro nights, eco-friendly decor, and local music performances,” said Santosh Gupta, another event organiser.
Beyond commercial venues, community-level celebrations are adding an offbeat charm to the festivities. Several residential colonies and neighbourhood groups are planning potluck dinners, rooftop countdowns and cultural evenings, reflecting a growing preference for intimate, and shared celebrations.
Shoppers browsing illuminated markets also summed up the mood. “The city feels alive with lights, music, and people everywhere. Whether it’s a park, cafe or street corner, everyone seems ready to welcome the New Year with hope and happiness,” said Priya Agarwal, a shopper at Upper Bazar.
