Ranchi Municipal Corporation Election: Strict Enforcement of Model Code of Conduct Underway

Ranchi: Deputy commissioner cum district election officer Manjunath Bhajantri held a meeting to chalk out strategies for the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) election, which is scheduled on February 23.The DC directed officials to maintain special surveillance on criminals released on bail and persons with criminal antecedents.Officials were asked to act against those trying to create unrest in society or vitiate poll atmosphere. The magistrate (arms) were urged to ensure necessary action for arms license holders to deposit their weapons within the prescribed time limit during the election period. “Emphasis was placed on conducting intensive raids against illegal weapons,” he said.The DC told police to conduct intensive vehicle checks, monitor misleading and objectionable content on social media and other platforms and keep vigil on illegal liquor and cash transactions.
