Ranchi Jewellery Shop Theft Attempt: Two Detained in Lalpur

Ranchi: Two men were detained on allegations of theft attempt at a jewellery shop loctaed in Lalpur area on Thursday, police said.Ranchi SP Paras Rana said, “The duo arrived at the Laxmi Jewellers and claimed that they had transferred Rs 3 lakh to the store owner’s bank account for purchasing a second-hand four-wheeler from a vehicle dealer.”“The duo further claimed that the dealer had asked them to transfer the amount to the said account. Later, they learnt that the vehicle was sold to them against forged documents. When the dealer stopped receiving their calls, they arrived at the jewellery shop and asked the store owner to return their money,” the SP said.“The jewellery store owner, claiming ignorance of any transaction, refused to return the money. One of the two accused pocketed a piece of jewellery and asked the former to return the money. Police detained both for questioning.”“After checking records, the jewellery shop owner found that he has sold ornaments against the amount transferred to his account. We are trying to identify the vehicle dealer,” SP Rana said.
