SC said damages can be recovered from organisers of bandh: Bengaluru top cop
The City Police Commissioner of Bengaluru has announced that the authorities will not permit the bandh (shutdown) called by pro-Kannada activists to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The police commissioner stated that the bandh is illegal and unconstitutional, and the organizers will be held responsible for any damages. Protests will be allowed inside Freedom Park, but action will be taken against those forcing others to shut down their establishments. Additionally, a large police presence has been deployed to maintain law and order.
Pothole worries after incessant rains
The incessant rains in Kochi have caused several interior roads to develop potholes, putting commuters at risk. Although the city didn't experience flooding this monsoon, it received an excess of 362% rainfall in just four days. The condition of roads in areas such as Chittoor Road, Thammanam-Pullepady Road, and P V Antony Road has worsened due to the heavy rainfall. The local body plans to carry out patchwork on roads with potholes, but repairing entire stretches will require a decision from the council. Experts suggest that Kochi needs to focus on adaptation and mitigation methods to tackle climate change-induced rainfall.
