BOKARO: Civil surgeon A B Prasad ordered an inquiry after it was alleged that a nurse at the sadar hospital in Camp II area told a woman in labour to go to a private hospital for delivery stating that the government doctor would arrive late. The woman delivered a baby at a private hospital and both the mother and the child are safe.
Raja Kumar had taken his wife, Leena Devi, to sadar hospital at 10 pm on Saturday after she went into labour. "A nurse, without even consulting a gynaecologist, told us that my wife's condition was serious and insisted that we went to a private hospital for operation as the doctor would not be available for another two hours. We then took her to a private hospital where she successfully gave birth to a healthy baby via normal delivery."
Deputy superintendent at sadar hospital, Dr B P Gupta, on Sunday said, "Nurses should not tell such things to patients' relatives without proper examination by a gynaecologist. The hospital administration is launching an investigation into the incident and action will be taken against the nurse, if found guilty."
Bokaro civil surgeon, A B Prasad said, "Although no formal written complaint has been lodged, a team will be formed to thoroughly investigate the matter, and if the nurse is found guilty, appropriate action will be taken against her."
