Private tutor jailed for molesting minor in Khalari

Ranchi: A 48-year-old private tuition

teacher

was

arrested

and sent to jail on Tuesday for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old minor at her home under Khalari

police

station area. The accused was identified as Manoj Kumar Singh, a resident of Dakra Durga Mandap area. He has been tutoring the girl for several months now.

Sunil Kumar Sao, the father of the minor had lodged an

FIR

with the

Khalari

police station on Sunday. He said, “The accused had come to my quarters on Sunday morning around 9.30 to teach my daughter. When my wife entered the room, she was shocked to find him molesting my daughter.”

In his complaint, Sao said, “When my wife protested and raised an alert, Singh pleaded for forgiveness and ran away. Later, our daughter told us that Singh had been molesting her for months.”

Khelari DSP Purushhotam Kumar Singh said: “A case under Sections 354 A and D of IPC and the Pocso Act has been slapped against the culprit. He has been arrested and sent to jail.”

Later in the day, the minor girl gave her statement before the district

Child Welfare Committee

(CWC) in the presence of a magistrate. A medical test was also conducted on her and was provided counselling at the CWC office before being sent home with her parents.

CWC chairperson Rupa Kumari said: “We have provided her counselling and recorded her statement. We will be submitting a detailed report to the judicial commissioner for further action. We have also provided a support person to the girl for legal assistance.”
