BOKARO: Karigili Government High School principal Bharti Bhattacharya fainted in one of the classrooms after consuming a liquid antiseptic as she allegedly failed to bear the pressure of the school management.
Watching Bhattacharya getting collapse in the classroom, children raised an alarm alerting local residents who rushed there to take her to Dhori Regional Hospital.
The doctors said her condition is stable.
Bhattacharya (57) lives alone in Karigili. Her relatives and brother visited her after coming to know about the incident.
Bermo DSP Shambhu Singh said Bhattacharya had consumed the antiseptic in irritation facing incessant pressure from school president R Mahto. "The issue is related to the financial matter in construction of a new building in the school. Mahto always used to put pressure on her for withdrawing the amount of the budget allotted for construction of the building. She was frustrated with his behavior," said the DSP.
Bhattacharya told the DSP that she is short-tempered by nature. On Friday, after facing such a pressure, she went to a room in her school and consumed the liquid antiseptic kept there. tnn"We have not got any written complaint from Bhattacharya in this connection due to which FIR has not been lodged yet," said Singh.
