After the seizure, police brought the Tata 407 vehicle and the explosives to the Hazaribag Sadar police station.
Binod Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of Hazaribag Sadar PS, said on Wednesday that acting on a tip-off that huge quantity of explosives was dispatched by Mukesh Modi, the owner of Modi Enterprises who is the supplier of explosives for use in mines on valid orders, the police swung into action.

Late on Tuesday evening when an explosive-laden truck reached the check-post, the police tried to stop the vehicle. But the driver broke the police barrier and sped away with the vehicle. "We chased the vehicle and ultimately succeeded in overpowering the driver at Demotand, about 10 km away from Hazaribag town," Singh said.
After bringing the vehicle, when the police asked for valid permits for carrying the explosives, the driver failed to show any document. On interrogation, driver Md Irfan told police that they were asked to hand over the explosives to a person in Gumla.
Police have lodged an FIR against Mukesh Modi. The Hazaribag police have sent teams to Domchanch and Gumla for further investigation.
