Police Arrest Four Members of Inter-State Gang Transporting Prohibited Meat in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Acting on a tip-off, the police on Thursday nabbed four members of an inter-state gang with prohibited meat they were ferrying from Vikramganj in Rohtas district of Bihar to Barasat in Kolkata.

Deputy SP Amar Kumar Pandey said the arrested accused persons are Shamsher Alam Gazi, Enamul Haq, Satu Biswas and Raju Gazi. All are residents of North 24 Paraganas district in West Bengal. “The police received information that bovine meat was being transported in two pick up vans. A checking drive was started on Ring Road under the Kharsidaag police outpost limits. The police stopped the vans and seized the materials,” he said.

A case was registered under provisions of Jharkhand Bovine Animal Prohibition of Slaughter Act.
