Jharkhand: Photo journo run over by truck, dies

RAMGARH: A senior photo journalist identified as Pradeep Kumar (56) was killed after he was run over by a speeding truck at the Jhanda Chowk here on Friday morning.
The deceased worked with a Hindi local daily. Kumar was out for his routine morning walk when he was hit by the truck He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
“Kumar was out on his routine morning walk when he was run over by the truck.The driver of the truck has been arrested. Investigations are underway,” Rohit Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Barlanga police station, said.
Following Kumar’s death, over 50 city journalists gheraoed the Ramgarh police station and demanded a ban on the entry of heavy vehicles in Ramgarh city. The Ramgarh Press Club also demanded Rs 10 lakh in compensation for the widow of Kumar.
