Permanent teachers for GEC in nine months: Secy
Daltonganj: The state department of higher and technical education is finalising the number of permanent posts for the newly established Government Engineering College (GEC) at Basoura village under Nilamber Pitamberpur (former Lesliganj) block, hoping to complete the recruitment process within nine months, an official said.
The department had earlier sent 12 teachers on deputation from the Birsa Institute of Technology (BIT), Sindri to the GEC to tackle the shortage of faculty members.

One professor, four associate professors, and seven assistant professors from BIT, Sindri, taught at the GEC for the past few months.
State higher and technical education department secretary Rahul Purwar said, “We are in the process of finalising permanent posts, based on which, we will send a requisition to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for initiating the recruitment process. We hope to address the issue in nine months.”
“Twelve faculty members were sent on deputation from the BIT, Sindri to the GEC to tide over the initial hurdles,” he added.
GEC principal Sanjay Kumar Singh, said, “A total of 195 students are enrolled here. We understand that the process to have commissioned teachers on roll takes months. Hence, we arranged local teachers for basic courses such as English, physics, chemistry and mathematics but the deployment of BIT, Sindri, teachers on deputation enabled us to hold classes till now.” TNN
