Over 7k medical officials deployed for health camps

Ranchi: In order to improve public health, the government has kicked off free health check-up camps across 264 blocks of the state. The drive that began on Thursday will continue till September 18. More than 7,920 medical officials have been deployed across the state for the purpose.The camps offer a wide range of services catering to diverse health needs. Individuals can avail themselves of general medical check-ups. Moreover, specialized services such as child health assessments and maternal health consultations are also available.A doctor, who is part of the drive, said, “One of the primary focuses of the drive is vaccination services. With the ongoing emphasis on immunization, the health department is offering vaccinations to ensure communities remain protected against preventable diseases. The move aligns with the department’s commitment to public health and safety.” The check-ups are for general medicine, child health, maternal health, vaccination, family planning counselling, IEC-family welfare, cataract check-up, ENT, dental check-up, skin check-up, malaria, nutrition counselling, leprosy control, tuberculosis control, eye examination, mental health, cancer control awareness, personal environmental hygiene, senior citizen health check-up and counselling, adolescent health check-up and counselling.

Health checks of CSMC sanitation workers

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) conducted special health check-ups for the sanitation workers of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC). The comprehensive check-ups included bone density, pulmonary function, and eye examinations. The IMA local chapter president stated that it is their duty to offer free healthcare to the city's workforce. The IMA is also planning to hold a similar health check-up drive for CSMC employees in the near future. The CSMC health officer praised the IMA's community-oriented health initiatives, including free OPD services and health check-up camps.

NGO to launch mental health drive at 11 CHCs

A city-based organization called Jeevan is organizing mental health revitalization programs at 11 community health centers in Jamshedpur. The programs will include stress-buster plays, motivational talks, and counseling sessions. The organization aims to tackle mental health concerns, particularly among working-class people aged 25 to 50. They are also planning to include workers from outsourced vendor companies. The initiative comes in response to the high number of suicides in the city, with family problems, stress, depression, love affairs, and financial problems identified as common causes. The organization is also providing counseling services in schools and colleges.

Protect health of Maratha protesters: HC to state govt

The Bombay High Court has instructed the state government to maintain law and order during activist Manoj Jarange's hunger strike for reservation for the Maratha community. The court emphasized the need to protect the right to protest while ensuring peace and tranquillity in society. The court also stated that protests must be conducted peacefully and should not cause any law-and-order situation. The state government assured that steps have been taken to address the issue and persuade Jarange to end his fast.
