One shot at in Palamu, hospitalised

Daltonganj: An unidentified miscreant shot at a youth identified as Niraj Kumar (23) on Saturday near the high school in Haidernagar, about 80 km away from Daltonganj. The officer in charge of the Haidernagar police station, Afzal Ansari, said, “Niraj sustained a firearm injury on his left shoulder.” He was shot at by the lone assailant who came on a bike and escaped after firing. The injured person was rushed to the primary health centre at Haidernagar.

The doctor on duty at the primary health centre (PHC), Jyotish Kumar, said the victim had entry-exit bullet wounds on the left shoulder. He was given intravenous fluid, antibiotics and pain-killing injections.” Later, Niraj was referred to MMCH, Daltonganj. Police suspect a love angle behind the shooting incident. “An investigation is on,” Ansari added.
