BOKARO: Doctors and medical staff at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) are trying their best to save the 10 kanwariyas who were injured in Bihar. The condition of one pilgrim is critical.
The devotees sustained burn injuries after the bus in which they were travelling to Babadham came in contact with high tension wire on Belhar-Deoghar Route in Bihar's Banka district on Sunday.

Five pilgrims were killed and 10 of them were injured in the incident. The injured were first rushed to a hospital in Banka from where they were referred to BGH for better treatment. The state government has directed BGH management to provide the best possible treatment to the victims.
The injured have been identified as Pradeep Kalindi (56% burn), Chottu Kalindi (18%), Nitai Singh (36%), Rocky Kalindi (30%), Mukesh Tewary (40%), Mantu Ghatwar (70%), Subhash Kumar (10%), Dipak Kumar (18%), Mithun Kumar and Satan Singh. Majority of them are residents of Aamdiha village of Chas Block here.
The team of doctors comprising burn and plastic surgeon, Aninda Mandal, Dr Uma Shankar and Dr Satish Chandra Kumar besides medical staff Jayanti, Rupa and Sangeeta are administering treatment to the injured. Each of the patients is being paid special attention. They are admitted in Burn Ward-II/A, said BGH sources. Mandal said the condition of Ghatwar is critical as he sustained injury in both the legs.
"Ghatwar sustained severe high voltage electrocution in both the lower limbs. We have conducted a operation to save his lower limbs. It may be possible that his both the legs would be cut below the knees. But we are struggling to save him and his leg," said Mandal.

BGH sources said that the 26 bedded Burn Unit is having 17 patients including 10 pilgrims who are being attended by the above team of doctors.
However, DC, Bokaro, Uma Shankar Singh appreciated the effort laid by BGH team in treating the burn patient who flooded in the hospital on Sunday.
DC said "we have decided to felicitate the doctors and medical staff team for their commendable service either on coming Independence Day function or providing appreciation certificates. The doctors team were found tirelessly attending each of the patients since they are admitted here. Many patients are showing sign of recovery".
Singh also said that seeing the growing critical condition of Ghatwar, he has requested state government to shift him to some higher medical center in Delhi or other suitable place.
